Funded Ph.D. Opportunities 

Funded Ph.D. opportunities are available occasionally and will be posted here, and some additional opportunities for external funding are listed below.  In addition, should you have existing funding, or joint funding from other sources (e.g., Ford, Chevron, Commonwealth, national agencies, NGOs, etc.), please send me an email to discuss proposal ideas. North West Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership holds an annual competition for funding towards master’s and doctoral (1+3/2+2) study, or doctoral study only (+3/+2).   Candidates must have been resident in the UK for at least 3 years.  EU Students who have not been ordinarily resident in the UK for the last three years may apply for a fees only award. Applicatons are usually due annually in Feburary, and I suggest discussion prior to application.

 

Russell E. Train Fellowships - Current & Aspiring University Faculty for Conservation offers support current and aspiring university faculty that are affiliated with or currently employed at eligible African, Asian and Latin American universities to pursue doctoral degrees in social science, natural science and other conservation-related fields for up to $30,000 per year for 3 years.  (Eligible countries: Belize, Bhutan, Bolivia, Cambodia, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuador, Fiji, French Guiana, Gabon, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Indonesia, Kenya, Laos, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mozambique, Myanmar, Namibia, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Peru, Republic of Congo, Solomon Islands, Suriname, Uganda, Vietnam, Zambia)

 

Commonwealth Scholarships support Master’s, Ph.D. and post-doctoral posts to candidates from support low and middle income Commonwealth countries.  Application information is typically released in August annually. 

 

Masters Opportunities 

If you are considering a Masters degree in the UK--by either Coursework or by Research--and are interested working with us, please consider getting in touch (preferably before you apply).

Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s international awards aimed at developing global leaders. Funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations, Chevening usually offers funding for 1-year masters degrees in the UK. Applications for various Chevening Fellowships programmes open at different points during the year, so please visit your country page for more information.  

 

Indonesian Students 

Indonesian students interested in Masters (by Coursework or Research) or Ph.D. research in my lab, should contact me to discuss opportunities for national scholarships.  I can help support top candidates with preparing applications for: Lembaga Pengelola Dana Pendidikan (LPDP) and Beasiswa Unggulan Dosen Indonesia (BUDI) scholarships.   Please contact me for more details.
