Proud to announce that Ph.D. student, Amy Collis, was just awarded the Maurice Swingland Prize for the best postgraduate student taught at the Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology (DICE), where she completed her MSc in Conservation Biology before coming to Lancaster. The Prize recognizes the top student, based on their coursework and dissertation marks, the extent to which they used their time at DICE for personal development, and the contribution of the student to the wellbeing of DICE.

Amy’s MSc dissertation looked at mining and natural resource use in Atewa Forest, Ghana. She was awarded a distinction for her work, and is currently preparing a publication based on her results. Moreover, her results were recently
submitted as part the process to justify the establishment of Atewa as a new national park.
