Orchids at CITES Standing Committee

Dr. Amy Hinsely and I represented the IUCN Orchid Specialist Group at the 69th Standing Committee of the Convention on the International Trade of Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) in Geneva.

We submitted an Information Document for country negotiators, highlighting key findings from our latest article, in an effort to raise awareness about the scale and diversity of orchid trade globally.

We also held a side-event to gather feedback from CITES Parties on how we can better implement the Convention to protect orchids--the largest and most diverse group governed by the Convention.
