for land & forest fire cases in Indonesia

Prof. Bambang Hero Saharjo, Bogor Agricultural University, Indonesia

Thursday, 14 Nov. - 1pm - Charles Carter Building A19

Indonesia's chronic forest and peatland fires, typically caused by illegal agriculture, are an ecological and humanitarian disaster. Prof. Hero is Indonesia's leading expert on uncontrolled fires. As the government’s lead expert witness on illegal fires, he has presented court evidence on nearly 500 cases over the past 20 years. He shows unusual leadership in defining the public role of a natural scientist. This talk will explore his research and how he communicates his science in the courtroom.
