WILDS Project presented as part of Indonesian independence day celebration

We're presenting the WILDS Project at the International One-Day Webinar on Indonesian Biodiversity, hosted by the Indonesian Institute of Life Science with the Ministry of Science and Technology / National Research and Innovation Agency, to celebrate the country's 75 years of independence. You can watch our session on YouTube here (starting 1:50 time remaining).

The event, focused on “mainstreaming biodiversity conservation, bioprospection, and bioeconomy for sustainable livelihood” aims for biodiversity "to be regarded as immense resource for the nation as well as the nature, for conservation as well as sustainable use, giving benefit for the people directly and indirectly. This event will try to bring up issues from biodiversity conservation, the potential of biodiversity for bioprospection, and biodiversity valuation for bioeconomy."

We will highlight how a meaningful bioeconomy must not only value biodiversity while it is health and of direct economic utility to humans, but must also consider the value of harms that humans cause to biodiversity. We will highlight how accounting for harm, and pursing it via litigation, can form an important part of a healthy bioeconomy.
