As the biodiversity crisis accelerates, there is a growing need not only to protect threatened species, but to also help them when they are harmed. Conservation litigation uses liability lawsuits to demand that those who harm biodiversity be held responsible for providing remedies to fix that harm. In many countries, existing laws would allow for such conservation lawsuits, but we are not using them yet. Our team of conservationists, lawyers, and economists is working to change that.
We have launched our new website, conservation-litigation.org, which explains how these cases can be developed.
